How to Clean and Maintain Eco-Pavers?
Currently, many municipal projects opt for eco-friendly and green materials, such as ecological paving stones, to create floor tiles. As these are relatively new products, there is currently no established guidance on how to clean and maintain them. Below, we will introduce some key tips on effectively cleaning and maintaining ecological paving stones.
Ecological paving stones refer to a range of green tile products. These products feature "eco-friendly" functionalities such as stain resistance, odor elimination, self-cleaning capabilities, and air-purifying properties—they are also known as "breathing" ecological tiles.
Some ecological paving stones utilize a photocatalytic reaction to generate decomposition power and hydrophilicity. By breaking down water and oxygen in the air, these tiles produce active oxygen on their surface, which effectively oxidizes pollutants adsorbed onto the tile, inhibiting bacterial growth and preventing dirt from adhering—a key feature that also helps eliminate unpleasant odors. Additionally, titanium dioxide reacts with moisture in the air, forming strong hydrophilic groups on the surface. This process allows water to penetrate deeply into the base of dirt particles, lifting them upward and facilitating easy removal. As a result, the tiles exhibit excellent self-cleaning properties, maintaining their pristine appearance over time.
How should ecological paving stones be cleaned of dirt?
1. For colloidal sludge and water stains that cannot be removed by washing with water, apply hydrogen peroxide solution for decolorization, or use a household detergent followed by thorough rinsing with water. Alternatively, clean using a specialized oxalic acid-based detergent designed for rust removal.
2. Apply cement slurry to thoroughly wet the joints between the tiles, followed by treatment with a 2-4% vinyl hydrochloride solution, and then rinse thoroughly with water. Remove soil and sand using a broom, flush with water, and gently scrub with a brush dipped in a 0.2-0.5% sodium phosphate solution.
3. Scrape the chewing gum with a spatula. This area is particularly difficult to scrape. Freeze it using salt and ice, then carefully remove the residue. For mold and moss growth, treat the surface with an HCl solution, followed by thorough rinsing with water.
Conventional Cleaning Methods for Other Substances
1. Apply the exterior wall cleaner to the surface to be cleaned using a coating roller, followed by spraying. Then, scrub with a brush and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
2. For heavier dirt or old, uncleaned wall stains, roll the cleaning agent onto the surface to be cleaned, wait a few minutes to allow the agent to soak and dissolve the grime, then scrub gently with a brush or scouring pad. If the stain is not completely removed in one attempt, repeat the process until thoroughly cleaned, and finally rinse thoroughly with clean water.
3. The cleaning dilution ratio is 1:1 to 1:3. For heavily soiled areas, use at a ratio of 1:1 or apply the solution undiluted.
4. For sensitive wall tiles and gravel, please test in an inconspicuous area before first use.
